So Much More

Instagram followers and FaceBook likes,

Filters, makeup, guys it’s time to take a hike.

We can be so much more.

What I’m about to say is practically lore.

They say no phone, no Instagram is old-school,

But honestly, I think it’s pretty cool.

Without all of the appearances,

Maybe I’m just a kid…

The one with real experiences.

I can be the avid reader,

I’m that girl a lot.

Most of the time I’m pretty eager;

To me the world is more than just a thought.

Behind the filter,

I like to learn.

My favorite season’s winter,

And I’m never stern.

Without the filter, my photos on Instagram,

They could really mean something.

A sweet, cozy morning of toast and jam,

Or maybe an adventure that ended in a bee sting.

Words without filters… well that’s something else entirely.

Saying what one truly means is hard… that’s not said mildly.

Unhidden words are sweeter.

Maybe they can be healers.

What I’m trying to say is pretty simple.

Really, it’s not a riddle.

Without all the stuff,

We could be so much more.
