So what if we are girls?
We say that we are all modern and don’t believe in superstitions and lies.
But can we be so sure of this when we can still see people living a life,
Where the birth of a son is a joy, but a daughter is a burden to bear.
So what if we are not the males you want, we still need your love and care.
We need you to raise us and show us the difference between right and wrong
To shape us, mould us, and teach us to be strong.
We need you to be our guiding light and make us feel priceless,
So what if we are girls, please don’t make us feel worthless.
You say that we are of no use, there is nothing we can do.
But, although you shun us and insult us , you secretly know that is not true.
You may call us helpless but we have achieved what was though unachievable.
We are capable of more than you think; We are unbeatable
You say that we have no role in your life,
but look around and question yourself
Don’t you see us in your sister or wife,
Or even in your mother herself?
We didn’t ask to be born, but it is our duty to live
And as you march on to supress us, all that we’ll say is:
Aren’t you supposed to be the one to love and care for us.
Why do you take away our right to live, please give it back to us.
We want the rights we are entitled to
We want nothing more or less
We just want the respect we deserve
That’s our only request.
