So you say we're equal...

Going to work in the morning, I avoid detection. Walking down the street, you change directions. While I’m drinking water, you glare at what you see. Dropping my children off at school, you attempt to elevate above me. I live my life, and you live yours. How is it to be believed that my life isn’t also a chore? We live in peace, or so they say. If that’s the truth, why must I suffer day-by-day? Years ago, this problem was solved. But in reality it’s never been absolved. I wish one day, you would see me as your equal, So we won’t have to revisit the past and produce a sequel. I love who I am, and respect you as well. So let me live and be happy, that would be quite swell. I am black, yes I know. Accept our skin is different, let it go.
