Sober

 By Kyra Moriarty

The feeling of despair

the feeling of isolation

the feeling of pain

runs through your body like a river during winter

I try to patch up scars with bandages

but honestly I need first aid

why do we do this to our selves

it's like walking through hell

Damaging our body

like our damaged hearts

us Americans

we like to laugh

love

smile

live

isn't that what you said Mr. Jay

we always just want to play

but when things get serious

we back away

Take a puff

blow out the pain

let the smoke surround you

get the free ride on the train

that feeling of happiness

runs through your veins

watch the smoke fade away

slip out of your hands

feel it burning your lungs

turning them into ash

 I'll take your hand

do it with you

pass over the pipe

lets smoke a bowl or two

breath it in

let it stay

push it out all the way

*cough cough* blow

here let's just take a drink

lay down on the couch

eating some ruffles

sipping on whiskey

wanna take some shots

I bet I can beat you

drink more than you ever could

let your brain go off

into cotton candy land

all nice and sweet filled with fluffiness

nothing can harm you there

the feeling is great

my muscles

my brain

my pain

so relaxed

for hours on end

me and my buddy just chilling

sitting on the couch not saying a word

acting like we don't have a clue in our heads

so silent we can feel the blood rushing thru our hearts

our eyes rolled back

as if we left the world

*pause*

take a moment

what are you doing

how does this help you

when the smoke passes your lungs

piss out the whisky

there's not going to be a free ride on the train

they're not relaxed brain

you ran out of cotton candy

what do you do then

you don't got bowls left

you just got a steam

oh no, did we drink it all

there's not even a sip left

what happens then

the feeling of despair

the feeling of isolation

the feeling of pain

runs back though your  body

you can't keep pushing and running

your problems away

they will catch up to you

what are you going to do

face the issue

scream in its face

punch it as hard as you can

get rid of the hurt

stand strong

there's not  always going to be a pipe around

there's not always going to be alcohol

one day you're going to half to face your problems

do it now

it's not too late

turn your head back to earth

and generate
