Soccer...

Waking up to the dancing sun,
Growing restless by no other thoughts than
Escaping to his imaginary paradise,
He reminisces
About his glorious childhood.
Crowned a leader by his earliest accomplishments.
Condemned by those same glorious endeavors.
He is bound to fulfill perpetual expectations like
The sun dictating daily light and darkness in the cosmos.

They all seem impaired by the norms of society!
He goes about his usual business
But he has to suffer,
Sustain, survive
The most brutal
Interrogation.
"Do you start?"
Each word thunders in his ears as
He tries to pronounce a comforting answer.
"It's just a sport, a game!"
Every word resounding like careless but
Forceful epithets.
Fleeing from the harsh criticism,
He tells himself, "they're not the ones sweating,
Busting their butts out on the field everyday!"
"They're not the ones getting yelled at by a ferocious
Bull!"
Hoping the words would bring along safe haven.

Nonetheless,
What kind of solace can they bring if
His confidence—fragile like glass—has been
Shattered into innumerable pieces.
Even his own teammates don't believe in him!
Hence, every time he steps on the field,
He is left to fight a lone and vicious battle
Against his own fears,
His demise already preordained!
Now tell me, does this sound familiar?
