Social Justice

" Resistance-"
the word
resonates
while causes spring
up
like mushrooms
after a rain.
And now,
we have
hashtag
this and that
and the "Me Too"
movement
and although I support justice
for all-
emphasize the word
"all"
meaning not just for celebrities
and athletes
the prominent
( those who can access the media
and hire attorneys.)
but
justice too,
for the victims
who are mentally ill,
or homeless
for women inmates
and enlisted personnel
the ones at the hands
of guards,
NCOs
and officers
- let's not be indifferent
to their pain.
( though somehow
there's still a
silence.)
And it is said
" there is nothing new
under the sun."
but now, this
" new"
( though all- too old)
political climate
of finger-pointing
an " us" vs. " them"
mentality
of ignorant tribalism-
like pack dogs
scavenging,
marking territory,
turf-
this needs to end...
And we must have reason
to celebrate
together,
as the late poet,
Lucille Clifton
said,
" Every day something
has tried to kill me, but failed."
And we need an
enlightenment
an embarking
unto an entirely
different
direction-
like the Beatles sang-
" Love is all You Need."

Our world
