society

I live in a society

Where anything goes

And if I don’t agree with insanity

Than I am the one insane

I am surrounded by lost people

Who claim to hold some truth

When the only truth they know

Is the one that they can’t face

Hush little child no need to cry

I don’t know if you’re a girl or a guy

And we won’t pressure you

Until you’re older

And maybe slightly bolder

I’ll bind my chest

And deepen my voice

And cut off what I want

But I’ll still feel the pain

Because I’m lost

Not different

Just lost

Don’t tell me I don’t understand

Because I’ve been there

I’ve been in that darkness

Sweet child lost and misunderstood

If I could be this

Then it would be okay

But it’s not

Because we live in a world

Where we search and we search

To find what we want

But we won’t be happy

Until we die.

Groups of young adults

Screaming and lashing

For a peace that they deserve

Yet they boggle down the peace

Of those who already have it

If you want equal treatment

Then let me speak my truth

Because I know who I am

Do you know what that means?

Sometimes following the normalaties

Means stepping away from the crowd

So lost and broken that they are jumbled

And I see from the outside

a silhouette of what could be

I want more

for you lost children

Floating from

girl to boy

Boy to girl

Girl to girl

Boy to boy

Homosexual

Pansexual

Lesbian

Bisexual

Bicurious

Polysexual

Monosexual

Allosexual

Androsexual

Asexual

Grey sexual

You are more than those words

And why have the word gender at all

If it means nothing in your eyes

If the words

Transgender

Transexual

Nonbinary

Genderfluid

Agender

Bigender

Polygender

Intergender

Mean more to you than uniqueness

Then I want nothing to do with them

I’m simply asking why

You can speak out for what you believe is right

But I can’t say a peep

Without blocking out your light

For what if my truths hold more value than you care to see?

And what if waving goodbye to what this world holds

Opens a bigger and bolder surprise

Than holding up a flag and letting it define who you are

Sometimes saying no to society

Is saying no to insanity

And I’m okay with that

So I suppose my question is

Do you know who you are

Or are you searching

And hurting those who know

Exactly who they are in the process
