Society
Youth constantly changing their plans for their future because of the standards society holds for them,
The same standards that strip the very definition of human,
Because of those standards, the girl across my street only eats one meal a day,
Because of those standards the boy across the street weeps quietly at night making sure he is as quiet as a baby sleeping.
Because of the society,
Society constantly screams,
You can’t be “fat”
You can’t be “skinny”
You can’t be this, you can’t be that,
Can’t you see, can't you see I am trying to fit into the standards the society has placed for me.
I am trying to fit in a society that doesn’t accept me for who I am
“I am trying” I whisper.
Constantly being asked are you fine, are you fine, are you fine.
He replies I am fine but with an aching heart.
A heart that has been yearning in agony.
A heart that has been subdued for way too long.
A heart that has been silenced and overpowered by the voices of the society.
A heart that longs to be heard.
A heart that is constantly being tossed over like stones being tossed in the sea.
A heart that has been shattered like glass and put together blindly.
A heart that is waiting to be heard.
Because of the society,
