Society Holds Us Back

Little boys and girls as they age

Something happens that’s quite strange

They lose their ideas, and lose their faith

That they have what it takes

The boys and girls now go to school

Where they find out what is cool

Should be a time they can explore

But instead they learn the lore

“This is the only way” they say

But is that really true?

For back in the day, we used to claim

The earth is the world’s center

“Its obvious!” they shouted “How else could it be?”

That’s when all the men there, just nodded and agreed

Then one day, some people asked

“How do we know you are right?”

“Well that is easy,” They replied

“The Church would never lie!”

And that, you see, is the reason why

Those kids would find they have declined

In thought and creativity

They go through some kind of phase

Where they don’t know what to think

“It’s impossible!,” they exclaimed

But did they even try?

Well, what do you think?

Do you see the problem?

We are taught “What’s right is right

It can not be wrong now”

It wasn’t possible to fly--

Then we found out how
