Soft Strength
Hi best friend,
How are you? How is your sister, our sister I mean, and our mom?
I can’t wait to hear all the embarrassing stories about your first day in your new school.
Everyone misses you.
Goodbyes are always hard, so maybe it was for the best that you were here one day and in another state the next.
I have to admit, I'm jealous of those who didn't know you that well.
They probably get through each day without having to run to the bathroom crying from the desperate desire for you to be here.
They don’t get home wanting to tell you about their day only to realize you and your phone sadly parted when you and I did.
But it's okay.
They don’t see your old locker and wonder if they're gonna see you walking toward it ny second.
They don't catch a glimpse of a longboard and run toward it, expecting to see you next to it, only to be devastated
But it's okay.
You got the hell out of this town, something I've been wanting to do for years.
You know, there's a soft strength in you.
Delicate but still powerful.
How cruel last friday was, to rip my best friend from my arms and toss her in another state.
But it's okay.
You're going to be okay. You’ve always been good at that.
As for me, we’ll just have to wait and see. But it’s okay.
