Softball

As I step up to the plate I determine my fate.

It’s up to me to choose my destiny to either prevail or derail.

I watch the chartreuse sphere come near and my hands begin to steer.

The ball strikes my bat and my heart begins to flap.

The blur of yellow green soars across the field, my strength I yield.

Possibilities of greatness flood my mind as home plate enters my sight.

With every stride and every breath I feel as if I have nothing left.

Once I hit home my confidence explodes.

The doubt dissipates as I seal my fate.
