Softball Game
Onto a yellow school bus the girls flee,
Heading to the softball game to see
Which team will play the best;
They have so many people to impress.
It is the first game of the year,
They walk onto the field without any fear.
The girls on the team are all very different
But they all work towards the same achievement.
The oldest player, Becca, plays first base,
Even though most of the time she has to chase
After the ball because she’s too clumsy and trips.
She really could use some extra tips
From her coach, whose last name is Mars.
He isn’t a good influence; he smokes a lot of cigars
And never pays attention to helping his team.
They could be so much better than they seem.
The girl who plays shortstop is named Bri,
Most people know she is very lazy.
She never works hard or tries to catch the ball,
I think it’s time she had a wake up call.
Softball players can’t be dreary;
But instead need to act more cheery.
With attitudes like this, they’ll never win a game
They’ll put their entire team to shame.
Mackenzie is the captain of the softball team,
She is the only one with a very huge dream
Of winning the league championship title.
To her, this is extremely vital.
Her plans are to go off to college.
All of the universities acknowledge
That she is the best in the state
No one else could be this great.
The third baseman, Sarah, is always wearing a frown,
Most of the time it’s difficult to cool her down.
Always so angry at all of her teammates,
This is not part of a softball players traits.
All of the girls try to cheer her up,
But she just won’t budge, almost like she’s stuck
In this terrible mood, no one can stop it.
But everyone knows she has the best softball mitt.
She stops every ball, and throws very straight
Even though she’s grumpy, she plays great.
The parents of the players come to every game,
But they don’t seem to enjoy it; they act very lame.
Even when the team scores, they don’t clap their hands
They just sit in their seats, waiting in the stands.
The least they could do is cheer their kids on,
Instead they wish they were at home, and let out a yawn.
Although the parents are sluggish, the girls don’t care.
They keep on playing, acting unaware.
The umpire of the game is very excited,
He seems to be extremely delighted.
But the truth is he’s only in it for the money,
It’s way too hot out and really sunny.
He wants the game to be over with so he calls everyone out.
This is unfair to the teams, without a doubt.
When the game is over, the umpire is paid
And runs away, back into the shade.
The game is over, the girls have won,
Now they are happy and can carry on.
Back onto the bus they start to walk,
So they can sit and have a talk
About the next game they are going to play,
Now they know they don’t have to be afraid.
Their record is going to keep improving,
As long as the team keeps on grooving.
