Solace

So I sat on the last corner bench,
I didn't feel like I fit in, but within reach
No table by my side, this is not a side for the rich
Drinks on the floor, and a crowded dance floor within my reach
Everybody seemed happy but me
I had lost my thoughts to the loud music when she walked straight to me
and for the better part of the first minute,

I was trying to figure out if she was lost, in need of help
But she became pretty comfortable that it didn't look like my zone anymore
And like always, I couldn't utter a word when she asked

why I was lost in my own world on such a beautiful night
instead, I gave the usual 'I know what you mean' nod
And she thought, maybe I am just another snob
Or maybe within me, I was hiding something good that made me look odd
She froze in a stare at me making me an uncomfortable lad,
And when I guessed it was her right time to walk away disappointedly sad,
she reached for my hands in an astonishing way, she said she'd understood me
Me? At that moment her smile blinded me from the crowd
The rhythm of my heartbeat felt louder than the music
My body shook to the cold breezes that hit my flesh and anxiety
In my silence, her voice sounded so convincing that every other thing begun losing meaning
and as she continued describing who she was, I grew more comfortable finally gained confidence
And the first words I uttered, 'Let's find somewhere more comfortable to talk'
I had found Solace....
