Soldier

Blurred passing figures, bodies collide. Are you truly moving so much faster or are you the only thing standing still? Turn and turn in place as you look for a friendly face. Everyone is rush, rush, rushing, there simply isn’t time. Even if you could get someone to look at you, there would be no friendly recognition. Can you be happy to see the flashing faces of people on a train platform when there isn’t even a chance to recognize them? Try to keep up now, you will be left behind. See those dashes of white passing you by? Those are the smiles they mechanically maintain. Go on now, imitation is the full appreciation. Even rotten corpses are left with their smiles. Now begin to move, never to slow down, you can’t let these things slip by. Right foot, left foot, right foot, left and suddenly you are in the parade. Such a good marching soldier you have learned to become. Step, step, stepping, to societies drum.
