A Soldier's Daughter

Trying to look tough
Off to war he goes
But at the sound of her voice
His sadness shows
Daddy don't leave me
His little girl cries
He kneels down
And looks her in the eyes
Sweetie, I'm sorry
But right now I have to
Remember one thing
I'm doing this for you
Be strong for your dad
Be a big girl
I love you most
Of all of this world
He kisses her
And leaves with that
He wouldn't come back
A week later a man
Shows up at the door
Delivering a message
That cuts to the core
Your dad's life was ended
He station was bombed
The girl wailed so loud
And could not be calmed
Daddy don't leave me
His little girl cries
She kneels down
And closes her eyes
Daddy I'm sorry
For letting you leaves
I remember you saying
You did it for me
I'll be strong for you, dad
I'll be your big girl
I loved you most
Of all of this world
