Solitude is not lonely

Against the wind, I took a walk

Past crashing waves and empty docks

Blue depths rose up in forceful swells

To break on concrete slabs and rocks

Against the sand, the water fell

And drenched my rubber boots as well

Though sky and sea appeared forlorn

I longed to never say farewell

Against my bitter longing torn

From slanting raindrops of the storm

I turned to look back at the shore

At peace to know I'd soon be warm

Against all logic, waves that roar

And wind that blows and rain that pours

Gave my heart rest and now it's clear

The reason lies in nights before

The nights of tossing, void of cheer

Of grinding teeth and mounting fear

But peace is drawing ever near

And waves of calm are breaking here

This poem is about:
Me
