Some days I stay awake

Some days I stay awake until 5am
because I can’t stop my thoughts,
my could’ve beens, should’ve beens
haunt my mind all night.
Sometimes, I fall in love temporarily
with the boy across the street,
the blondie who took the time to smile at me,
my dates best friend who shook my hand.
I busy my days with boys who don’t mind if my smile isn’t real,
who’ll love me even
if the perk in voice is forced,
even if I drown my sadness in alchohol.
And sometimes, I see a boy,
whose confident smile, and cocky gaze make me smile,
because it reminds me of you.
And sometimes, I think of you.
