Some Don't Understand

Some don’t understand
That I grew up a little bit too fast
That my life is not made out of gifts and flowers
That I work hard every day to be who I am to this day
And to be me you need lots of patience and love

I may be seen as the lovely girl
The one who's always happy and smiling
The one who's amazing to be around just because of all the positive energy she gives
But this so called happy girl
Is dead inside

Leaving school with a frown on her face
Trying to figure out how he feels today
Because the outcome of her day depends on his

All she can do is pray
Pray to God for his health
That one day he'll be back on track again
And she'll be able to call him what he meant
Call him dad once again

It's been a few years now
Living with this pain
Can't do anything to change it
Just hope for the best

Sometimes I wish I could get up and leave
Sometimes I wish I could stay and cry

Opening up to people isn't my best vocation
Because some don’t understand
Don’t understand how it is
When you're 11 years old and you're mom is in the hospital 24/7
Taking care of a rare sickness
Causing your daddy to stay still

Realizing I had to be more responsible in the house
So my mom wouldn’t get worried
Taking care of me and my brother
With the help of my grandmother
Trying to do good at school at the same time
Wasn't easy but I managed

Now that I look back I'm proud of life
How I'm now this mature young lady
And can handle struggles throughout the road

Don’t get me wrong
It still hurts
But I've dealt with it
And I'll deal with it till the end of time
But if you ask I won't explain it again
Because some don’t understand
