Some Kind of Wonderful

It had been the place she had been trying to crawl out of for so long.

So when she did, it was like a breath of fresh air.

She met new people, found new things to love,

And it felt like home to her.

But coming back meant going through all of that a second time.

And that was what scared her the most.

Her new home was welcoming, and freeing, and mostly wonderful.

But,

That didn't stop the small ache in her heart leaving everything she'd ever known behind.

Every feeling, every person, every memory.

She was brought back to those things each time she came to visit,

And it was mostly painful.

Yet somehow, towards the end just before she'd leave it all again,

She felt some kind of wonderful.
