Some Sand

Picture me

On a deserted shore,

With nothing but my

Thoughts and some sand

If I could have anything

To dull the pain of my misery

What’d it be alludes me now so I’ll think

And think some more since I have the time

A clock or wristwatch

I could track every second

But with no where to go

This time would be useless

A laptop would have all

The entertainment I need

But with no where to connect

It’d be this shell hollowed out, empty

Perhaps the best book ever,

But what book would I choose?

That seems like a whole different

Torture than the one I am in right now

Physical objects

Are not what I desire

What I want is nothing you can buy

But instead something incredibly rare and sublime

The only thing I need next to me

Is the love of my life, my best friend

I’d find comfort in her shadow late at night

And feel safe in her embrace when the storm raged overhead

We wouldn’t count what we owned

But instead the memories we had sown

No schedules, classes, or even jobs to worry us

What is hell now could be my heaven with just one addition

The useless clock would speed up

Since with her the time is fleeting faster

I would take a death sentence with my beloved

Over a life sentence without her and her company
