Someday

Someday

we will be in Europe

with the Baedeker at home

hiking through the Alps

breathing in the thin fresh air

making our own path

Someday

you will get down on one knee

and ask me to be the keeper of my heart

even though you have possessed it

from the moment i first saw you

Someday

i will walk down the aisle

with my father

wearing nothing but the purest white

surrounded by loved ones

and my eyes will be set on you

as i gracefully walk towards the beginning

of our new life

Someday

we will build a home together

where we feel safe and secure

i know they say that

home is wherever i am with you

but i mean

come on

who really buys that bullshit

Someday

we will start a family

and watch the time go by

and in the blink of an eye

our kids will be grown

and out of the house

Someday

we will sit on the porch

of our house and watch the sun set over the horizon

while you drink your tea

and i drink my hot chocolate

and we will reminisce on the times

when we were young and reckless

on the times we shared

the fights we’ve had

the jokes we’ve made

the tears we've cried

the places we’ve been

Someday

when we are old and grey

when the world slows its orbit

when the sun doesn’t seem as bright

when the birds’ songs are out of tune

and when the flowers do not bloom

we will part

but please

my darling do not fret because

Someday

we will meet again
