Someday
Dear Someday,
We’re waiting for you.
Are you a’comin?
Will you be a soft glow?
The dawn of a new age.
An age of peace and reason.
Or are you a blazing inferno?
Fire to cleanse and burn away the sin.
Purgatory.
Can a brighter tomorrow only begin with flames in the sky?
Please come soon.
For today is long and loveless.
Many are cynical.
Too long have they been promised you.
Please.
I beg you.
Give us a sign.
Give us hope.
We are tired.
We are weary
We are numb.
Stun us with brilliant light.
Flood us with empathy.
Caress us with the softest touch.
I, the eternal optimist.
I, the dreamer of absurd dreams.
I, the last believer, await you.
Will you arrive soon?.
Or will the earth become my ceiling?
And the world continue as it is.
Cold.
Dark.
Cruel.
