Someone please notice I tried
I smile so people think I’m doing fine,
while secretly I’m begging for a sign.
I help my friends and wipe away their tears,
then hold my own alone through quiet years.
I give my heart away in pieces small,
just hoping someone might see me at all.
I say “I’m good” so it won’t feel too real,
while heavy thoughts are things I never reveal.
I try to be the light in someone’s night,
because I know how dark it gets sometimes in life.
I answer calls when others need a friend,
I stay too long and help it never end.
And maybe that’s the hardest truth I face,
I only feel important when I’m in a place.
But when I help somebody heal their pain,
it makes me feel like I’m not here in vain.
So if my kindness helps somebody stay,
if I can make their heavy thoughts go away,
then maybe all the hurt I carry tight
still means I brought a little good in someone’s life.
Because deep down beneath the fear and ache,
I just want proof I made the world a better place.
