To Someone Who Changed My Life
Growing up I wasn't sure of who I would be or what I would become
I remember when you walked in to the room
I honestly was kind of startled by your presence
You walked in as if the room was your, demanded everyone's attention because you had something to say, finished what you had to say and that was that
I was unsure about how I would talk to you or if I wanted to talk to you because from a distance you seemed very hard and stern
But as time would go on we'd be having conversation and interactions, and through those interactions I began to learn about you and from you
I began to learn that you've experienced life, some of the harshest parts and some of the most joyous parts
You weren't tough just because you could be, but because life showed you what it really is
You cared enough to teach me about life and who I can be in this world
From you I learned that my surroundings don't dicatate my greatness and if I want to be great I must look beyond where I am and who I currently see myself as
From you I learned that opportunites are to be taken, they don't wait and when that opportunity is for me I can't be afraid to take it, I just have to take it and run like my life depends on it
From you I learned that I must be my best self and give all the best parts of myself that I hold so close, I must be authentic and unapologetic about it
Your authenticity inspires me to be honest with myself and those around me, even if it gets uncomfortable
Because you cared, and still do, you changed my life and that change has caused me to express my gratitude and be better than I was before
