Something to be

I found myself in desert places,

In dry places where no rain ever kissed the dry,

cracked dirt.

I found myself in the stormy sea,

In the waves that threatened to overtake me and

Drown me out at in the ocean.

I found myself where you thought you buried me,

In the cold, dark path where you left me for dead.

I came back. I never was dead.

You see you never believed in me but that is okay.

Because where you left me was not where I ended.

The day you left me was not the day I died.

I found myself there, I found my life then.

Now that I’m beginning, that I’ve found my life-

Tell me, have you found yours?

I rose like a victor, I rose like a phoenix,

I rose just as I am.

I found myself in desert places, in raging oceans

And a cold, dark path.
