Something to Consider

These words might be too harsh to say them to my teacher’s face

But if I write them in a poem would it sweeten the taste?

What’s the point of handing out kids two-hour detentions?

If they come back the next day with even worse intentions

There’s a reason that the kid keeps acting up in your class

Maybe he doesn’t understand any of the questions you ask

Instead of handing out discipline

Improve your curriculum

If you suspend a kid for actions that you deemed as unwise

Then you might be trapping them to where their problems arise

You take pride in making a troublemaker sit all alone

But you don’t stop to ask them what they’re dealing with at home

If I’m having a hard time I should be able to come to you

You’re my teacher, someone I look for inspiration to

Sometimes kids make mistakes, that doesn’t make us criminals

Yet instead of talking to me you go and send me to the principal

These words are from the heart so I hope they don’t make you bitter

I just had a few thoughts that I think my teacher’s should consider
