Something That I'm Not
Inside your chest, that heart beats fast and hard,
the anger takes your breath and clouds your sight.
You've tried and tried to show them what you know,
but no one seems to see that you are right.
In desperation, darkness closes in.
The mirror finds you pale and cold, distraught.
You scream and shout and tears flow down your cheeks,
this life has made you something that you're not.
Yet parting clouds reveal a brilliant light
that shines into your soul and makes you smile.
You normally have strength to overcome,
yet in these hard occasions they compile.
To feel alone is not, in fact, to be;
consumed, I feel our soughing unity.
