Something Important

Something important

I feel I've lost

Something important.

I'm not quite sure

What it is that I've lost

But it was integral.

It was something

Fundamental to my being

And now I've gone and lost it.

I haven't a clue

Where to find it or

How to replace it.

Its absence hast set me

Adrift and I find myself

Scrambling and frantically searching

For a way back

Back to my something important

Back to me or at least

Who I thought I was

But I can't go back

For I've lost something important

and now the old version of me

Is gone she, I can't exist

Without that something important

I find adjusting difficult

As if I'm a fish

Trying to fly amongst the birds

I can't help but struggle

And mourn my something important

Without it I'm forced to walk,

To continue down an unfamiliar path

With a strange mindset

I have changed not for the worse

But for the better

And yet still

I can't help but feel

I've lost something

Something once important
