Something More

My life was very dark, to the drugs I was a slave I knew my great escape would surely take me to my grave Some days I'd find the courage to try to break away The beast would knock me down and yell I am here to stay Broken bruised and beaten from the trauma of my past I cursed the days ahead not knowing how long this will last I try not to stumble but the pain is too much to bare God are you watching Is there anyone up there I lift my hands up high as my knees fall to the floor Defeated and confused I pray to God for something more.
