Something More

There is Something More in our lives,

more than finally closing the big business deal

or seeing the disabled student finally succeed.

There is Something that opens a door,

showing us another way to think

through which way wisdom travels through

the words on a page, the voice in the air,

to the hollows of our minds.

This freshness is called self-innovation,

coming from the Spirit that dwells within.

If we listen, not with our ears, but with our hearts,

we absorb Something More, a new wisdom that enriches

our eternal being, staying with us forever.

I am a retired high school and college professor. The last 10 years of my teaching was as a college professor of literature and writing. I have self-published one book of prayers and meditations and am preparing another book of poetic odes to faith and love. I am truly honored to be welcomed into this group.
