Something New

i was a cloud.

sullen and gray

deflated, depleted.

then i grew, and grew, and grew

an angry thing, bitter, spiteful

then i grew, and grew, and grew

until i could grow no more

i cried.

nothing new.

i was a cloud.

sullen and gray

but then

you.

      a light,

            a color,

                  something new!

i was a cloud.

never once tied down

but by you,

a promise you made,

one year today.

trust, loyalty, love, reassurance

something new.

i was a cloud.

but now, i am me

   because i love you.

something new

   because of you.
