Something To Say
I’ve got something to say
Something so graceful
It would put a flowing white river to shame
Those who disagree with what I have to say
I blame, for the state that the worlds in
I’ve got something to say
Something as profound as the way a man like Emerson or Tennyson can grace a notebook with his pen
As poetic as the myriad of sounds echoing from the majestic redwood tree
Something as truthful as an intoxicated man out of his mind
Something as blunt as a bayonet from the days of the civil war
Weathered away by the sands of time
Found buried under mounds and mounds of dirt and grime
A couple hundred feet deep in the soil
I’ve got something to say that holds thicker than oil
Will keep a person warmer the foil
Or even keep them loyal
Like a crew member to their captain
Or even a cheap store owner to his manikin
Love all people, is what I have to say
Because love is as poetic as birds that ring out in may
As breathtaking as the sky in its transformation from night to day
That one word is something that all people say
But not something all people mean
The love that we show to all should not be something seen only in a dream
Or whispered between the lips of two teens
But something that is lived
Something ever so slightly woven into the seams of our being that we forget it is even there.
Love is what I got to say for now and forever.
