Something Sweet

I found a shirt of mine

That you had worn

It smells like your shampoo

It smells beautiful

Why do two weeks feel

So much longer than they should?

Come home quickly

So I can kiss your forehead

And you can grace my heart with

Your voice

I don’t do well with distance

Especially not five states of it

So I send my love through the phone

But your phone can’t tuck you in

Or squeeze your hand

Or get you water

Or gently pick eyelashes off your face

I’ll come to you

As fast as possible

I know you’re missing me

The same that I’m missing you

So wait until you see

The feathers sprouting from my back

Light and bright

Like your spirit

I didn’t know I could fly

Until my angel told me

That she needed me

With flowers and sliced apples

I love you
