Sometimes I miss it
I write because its the only way I can express myself. I remember I was in forth grade, my assistant teacher Mrs. Elsey was reading a poem to the class. I could never remember the entire poem all I knew was it had something to do with love and that it didnt boast nor did it envy. I later found out that it was Corinthians 13:4 from the bible. That was the day, the day I fell in love with poetry. I was introduced and knew I had officially walked into a new door in my life. I just began to write as if I had much to write about, but I did. I wrote about my puppy love and heart break, how I felt that day, and about what I questioned. I had never considered myself a "writer" until others had brought it to my attention. By the age of 10 I had already written almost 20 poems, whether they were good or not, I wrote them. I later knew that writing was apart of my life when I would open a notebook and begin a haiku or a standard poem. I write without even knowing I'm doing so, I just speak words that my heart isnt able to.
Why I write
Why I write is why others breathe
I write for feelings that others cannot see
I write for the healing that I may need
I write for the right to be all I can be
I write to be right and always succeed
I write because it is like kiss to my mind
I write to explain the feelings left behind
I write to be understood
I write because it makes me feel good
I write to be the caged birds that sings
I write to say what I believe
I write because it is apart of me
Why I write is why others breathe
