Sometimes (I Still Win)
Sometimes I still worry about starches.
Sometimes I still quickly lift up my shirt
When I think no one will see
And I glance at the nearest reflection.
Sometimes I stare.
Sometimes I keep staring.
Sometimes I eat apples
Even when I don't really want them.
Sometimes I get really upset when someone touches my stomach.
Sometimes I want to lash out
Or cry
Or explain to them
That I just ate
That my stomach is really fat
That I can't possibly imagine why they would do that
Why they would touch my stomach.
Sometimes food dictates what clothes brush over my skin in the morning.
But at the end of the day,
When I sit down with a smile
When I eat the shrimp I just grilled all on my own
When even after that
I go and read a book
In my dimly lit room
Or instead I shoot zombies
With the two men I love most in this world
When all the while my food digests
When it FUELS my body
Does anything else really matter?
At then end of the day
I still win.
