Sometimes it Takes More Than Two to Tango

Who does one call a friend?

A classmate, a neighbor, or even a stranger

The old adage says, “A friend in need is a friend indeed”

And even if this were true, haven’t we witnessed simple miscommunications ruining lifelong friendships?

In such circumstances, a true friend would jump in, not caring if he or she were involved, to help smoothen the relationship;

Ensuring to dispel any misgivings, before the misunderstanding becomes a cause for permanent damage.

Too many of these incidents have happened in my life, and has awakened me to this realization

How important having real friends who will stand up for you can be;

So I have become one of these individuals; and when I consider somebody a friend – a true friend, I go “All In”

To ensure that my friend knows that they have somebody covering their backs.

The world is full of doubters and individuals who only provide lip service;

These individuals behave this way not because of indifference;

But perhaps they have been victims too;

So without making judgements about the motives behind a person’s inaction,

I take it upon myself to interject on behalf of my friend,

Particularly when they are absent.

Sometimes a mere explanation is all it takes;

At other times, mediation;

And sometimes, the bitter truth;

Yes a true friend has to do that too.

So my friends, if you consider yourself a good friend,

Do jump in to the scene, because sometimes it takes more than two to tango.
