Somewhere Between
I'm somewhere between
who I was
and who everyone expects me to
become.
Old enough to understand
that life isn't always fair,
but young enough
to still believe it might be.
I laugh when I'm supposed to,
say "I'm fine" when I'm not,
and keep things inside
because explaining them
sometimes feels harder
than carrying them.
Nobody tells you
that growing up
isn't just getting older.
It's realizing
your parents don't have every answer.
Your friends can change.
Your dreams can change.
And sometimes
even you can become a stranger to
yourself.
There are nights
when I wonder
if I'm becoming someone
I'll be proud of.
Not someone perfect.
Just someone
who made it through
without becoming bitter.
Because maybe life
was never about having everything
figured out.
Maybe it's about
walking through the uncertainty
with shaking hands
and still choosing
to take another step.
So I'll keep growing.
Even when it hurts.
Even when I'm confused.
Even when I don't recognize
the person staring back at me.
Because somewhere
between who I was
and who I'm becoming,
there's a version of me
still learning
that it's okay
not to have all the answers.
