Somewhere In Southeast Asia

(Villanelle)

Half my blood and spirit comes from that place

A final result from seeds of heroes

Cultivating pride like a rice terrace

Calamities killing us all as one

mind and nation errupting volcanoes

Half my blood and spirit comes from that place

Massive starvation showers above us

my garden, a heaven of ripe tomatoes

Half my blood and spirit comes from that place

Mount Pico De Loro gaining my trust

She tells me to stay, forever my home

Half my blood and spirit comes from that place

Bamboo house so firm, unable to rust

Brown booby squawking loud, a lovely tone

Cultivating pride like rice terraces

To go back someday, is simply a must

for it's a part of me,a vein, a bone

Half my blood and spirit comes from that place

Cultivating pride like rice terraces

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My country

This was written in order to express my pride of being part filipina. Remembering where you come from is very important and special in many ways. Although Asia has been through many tragedies, like any part of the world, it has it's beauty.
