Somniphobia
4:24 at late night
I don't call it morning cause' it ain't bright...
I can't fall asleep
I'm afraid I might have a dream and fall too deep
My subconscious keeps dragging further and further in
Any light at the end of the tunnel is growing dim
Struggling to wrench myself from the darkness, my chances are slim
I've tried everything; even fear can't push me
My voice is getting softer, and I know that this nightmare is trying to shush me
False hope and insecurities gang up and ambush me
I'm struggling against my chains
But they're forged from all my pain
Anything that I shouldn't have kept in my mind that's left a stain
My body keeps giving me a warning...
If I keep forcing this insomnia on myself, I won't be able to purge
From the surge of all the outside influences
But I've already let enough through all of my inner defenses
So much for six senses
I think I might strain myself until I'm straight senseless
I swear, I feel so damn helpless
The assault on my conscience is ruthless, relentless
I wish that someone else has felt this...
So that they could tell me what to do
Because I'm drowning in the dirtiest little cesspool
And the only lifesaver seems to be to close my eyes
And enter dreamland.....
But I'm too paranoid, cause I don't wanna ever wanna meet the Sandman
Then I'd be forced to suffer
For all of the neglecting, and no wake could ever be a good-enough butler...
...Zzzzz....zzzzZZzz...*snore*
