Somniphobia

In the uncertain hours of evening

When crepuscule gives way to night,

My harried soul seeks out some meaning

To make the long day’s wrong, go right.

I seek the light in hopes of finding

An end to all my uncertainties;

From deep inside, so much spellbinding

Come out my thoughts as grim deformities.

My bed lies there, as one huge coffin

Beckoning me more and more often

With open arms to dwell upon it,

Ever deceiving ‘bout my safekeeping.

I’m overcome by fear of sleeping

And I die each night as I lay on it.
