A Son
I am a son, a son to a loving innocent mother, a mother to my schoolwork, schoolwork that needs to be completed, a completed test score, a test score that determines my future, a future only containing dark abyss, a dark abyss with a dimming flickering light, a light that doesn’t get to realize its full potential, a potential energy that ascend with every kinetic energy up the ladder, a ladder I nervously walk to receive my diploma, a diploma that is the golden key, a key to finally escaping, a key to opening fresh untouched doors and to closing abused skeleton doors, that door I accidentally opened, openly unaware, unaware of my mother being beaten, beaten bruise across my plum-ripe eyes and blood-stain lips whenever I talk back, a back filled with excuses and lies to my teacher, lies that I wont be anything in the future, future that isn’t mines to decide, decide not to believe the false words, words that I recite to myself under my cold blanket, blankets if letters of acceptance, acceptance to prestigious life, a life that I strive to always live. I am son, a son to a cowardly, shameless, pitiful, unforgiving, relentless father. A father that I will never become.
