Son of Man

Do you understand

Son of man, son of sin, son of all transgression

Son of envy, son of pride, son of sick aggression

You have disease ridden veins, thorn clustered vines

Rot bloomed in fruit, a corrupted mind?

You are son of guilt, son of crime, son of all pollution

Son of lust, son of vice, son of persecution

You are unkept words, fallen leaves

Branches warped and sanity grieved

You are son of wrong, son of tort, son of all defiance

Son of anger, son of boast, son of veiled alliance

Your white turned red, and your green into brown

Our innocence stolen, our life cut down

You are son of ego, son of hunger, son of glutton abundance

Son of evil, son of talk, son of racial reluctance

Our bones turn to dust, our roots are in drought

We have one empty heart, the color bleached out

Son of error, son of fault, son of all misdeed

Son of debt, son of sloth, son of engrossing greed

Calloused bark, filthy hands

President? No. Businessman.
