"Song of Myself"

Do you hear me when I speak?

Do you hear my voice when the bird sing?

Do you hear words fly out of my mouth?

I look in the mirror and see this girl smiling back at me with sparkles in her eyes

I pause and think to myself

It's not about the physical features

Society did not make this girl

This girl made her own society

If I counted one pair of shoes for each year I have existed

I would provide seventeen pairs for the less fortunate

What makes me, me is music, sports, family, and friends

Music gives me a relaxing and calm feeling

Listening to it, I get an inspiration to work hard and write myself

My heart and soul goes into every word I put down

As I listen to music, it reminds me of walking on the beach

I watch the waves crash the shores as my feet sink in the sand at each step I take

There are many interests that I have and music is just one

It has made me who I am today

Writing music will be one path to success in my life

This girl is hopeful that the notes will carry her to the future

Trusting and knowing people will be there to stand by her side

As she walks into the bright light she will believe in herself

Create that beauty and dream from the words she creates

And when finished, be elated with her accomplishment

I am this girl and this is the puzzle piece that is about to finish the puzzle.
