Song of the Soul

I grew up Reading poets in school. I ddn't like their poems. I thought they were boring. They didn't make sense. I wondered why anyone would write Such poems. I would nearly die when forced To write one. But now I think I understand. A little at least. Poems can be complex And confusing sometimes But so is the soul. So much so sometimes That it must be let out. Poems are The song of the soul. We write because We cannot keep Our words inside. That is why I write. I look at the stars And write. Or look at the sunset And sing. I feel pain And cry. I put it on paper. That way I can Let it out and remember At the same time. For all the beauty and the pain That is why I write. That is why I write My song of the soul.

When I read, "Poems can be complex/ And confusing sometimes/ But so is the soul", my emotions were a mixture of understanding, excitement, and several others I cannot find the words to describe. The power of your words are truly amazing! I think this poem will hit like a ton of bricks if you added a little rhyme and a couple more metaphors. Great job either way! :)
