The Songs of a Kitchen

The sizzle of a steak in a cast iron skillet

The crackle of bread when you break into it

The whir of a mixer filled with batter

The drip of coffee as it pitter patters

The clanking of dishes

and the evening's chatter

The laughter and giggles of all who gather

As I close my eyes to hear the rhythm of the kitchen

I realize their is inspiration for all who listen

For you see food is not simply something you consume

But something that can light up any room

It is the hard work of a baker or

the passion of any food maker

that can be found in the songs of a kitchen
