Along with summer came hopeless sorrow,
The mind played tricks upon the pain filled heart,
Said to be okay upon the marrow,
Thoughts of him withered, he had played his part.

The dead night ended with a sleepless start,
Dreams of him erupted in my waking,
I guess that he was encouragingly smart,
My broken heart was his for the taking.

I shivered and he knew I was breaking,
Death of my love was willingly spoken,
The torn wound in his chest remains aching,
His shallow breaths are seemingly broken.

I wear my broken heart on blood-stained sleeves,
All my patience is gone, hopefulness leaves.
