a sonnet for him

Your beady eyes are as dark as the night

Your hair is too long and must be cut soon

Your presence beside me doesn't feel right

When you speak to me I no longer swoon

Your sister's red car pulls out of the lot

You and your girlfriend sit in the back seat

You don't care for looks but she's not so hot

Her personality makes her so sweet

Sometimes I regret the love we once shared

I wonder why I believed we'd work out

When you texted me I thought that you cared

Now our relationship's facing a drought

It's hard to believe I once loved you so

I think as I watch your sister's car go
