Sonnet II
Your emerald eyes at first set me ablaze,
Your beauty was so delicately sweet.
But I forgot the game the Devil plays
And now I’m but an ember in my heat.
Not viper sending poison through the veins
Nor mako dragging blood all in the blue
Knows half the ire that within me reins
The instant I am forced to think of you.
Your memory has become quite a disease
That putrefies and tires out my soul –
Now take your venom eyes away, oh please,
And burden me not with your heart of coal.
I wish you bliss in all your gruesome lies,
But read this as farewell, my Emerald Eyes.
