Sonnet III - The Storm
When life for me was a maelstrom
Lightning – hear the wind and chaos reign
Nothing in this world could my soul calm
Love was myth and hope my bane
The rain poured and the wind howled
My head ached from all the commotion
Every time I tried to laugh I only scowled
My life was dark – devoid of all emotion
But then, heavenly sunlight shone upon me
I watched in surprise the light from above
My heart and spirit were at long last free
What I longed for all this time was only love
I reached toward the light and tender warmth
Your hand reached out and took my own
I felt immediately pulled back to the earth
Someone had finally melted my heart of stone
I no longer yearn for the eternal sleep
I give you my everlasting soul to keep
