Sonnet with no Filter
I fear no podium or crowds’ embrace
I speak with fluid grace and heavy thought
I carry courage and a welcome face
I aim for stars higher than any sought.
I am most home on a diamond of dirt
I grab the pearl of ivory so pure
I grasp the bat - scent of tar on my shirt
I play this game; I’m sure it needs no tour.
I write to please the angels in my heart
I know now that words liberate the mind
I use them to heal or pierce like a dart
I use them to make smile those so kind.
Great am I - speaker, athlete, and poet
Great with no filter - and now I show it.
